SY OMNI of Oslo - bluewater-cruise

SY OMNI, is an Albin Vega, a small but sturdy boat, build in Sweden in the mid 1970's. She has been sailing around in the atlantic since 1997 and I bet she never dreamt about seeing so many places when I left Norway. (not me either)

When she left Norway, she headed first due west to some atlantic islands, like Faeroes, before she sailed south to Spain and then along the coast of Europe to the Canaries.

After some 3 weeks crossing from Cap-Verde to Trinidad in early 1998, she ended up in Trinidad, West-Indies.

I had some some plans sailing into the pacific, but unfortunetly my bank-account would not allow me that, so I found out that USA is also a good place to visit, and mabye Greenland. Some 3 weeks later, not to mentioned 2 months in Trinidad, I ended up in Newport, RI, USA. But the time was not on my side this summer and august is really not a good place to cross the atlantic in the northern latitudes.

So, now she is in US, waiting for me for voyage this summer, where my plan is rougly to follow the viking-route from Canada and back to Norway. If everything is going as I hope, I will be back in Norway in late august, after some very interesting month in the northern latitudes

Stay tuned for more letters and email from SY OMNI.
